Genesee & Wyoming’s Industrial Development group has enhanced its website with an interactive search tool for rail-served properties. The new functionality allows current and potential customers, as well as economic development authorities and site selectors, to identify rail-served properties along G&W’s 115 North American short line and regional freight railroads.
The tool, which contains information for almost 500 industrial properties in the U.S. and Canada, can be accessed at http://www.gwrr.com/id.
“Searching for properties through our new tool serves as the first step for businesses looking to take advantage of freight-rail economics,” Mike Peters, G&W senior vice president of real estate and industrial development, said. “By locating their facilities on industrial sites along our railroads, shippers can reduce transportation costs, receive dedicated customer service and, in many cases, gain access to broader markets via connections to the Class I railroad network. State and municipal economic developers can also utilize the tool to market G&W-rail-served properties to companies requesting rail service.”
Users can tailor search results by state, zip code, property size and utilities included, among other filters.
“Improving our industrial development site with user-friendly search functionality demonstrates G&W’s commitment to make it easy for businesses to gain access to our railroads across North America,” Michael Miller, G&W chief commercial officer, said.
