The Illinois Region offers many strengths to meet your
requirements. One is our excellent relationship with Class I
railroads; we connect directly at multiple locations with Union
Pacific, Burlington Northern-Santa Fe, Norfolk Southern and
Canadian National. We also interchange with the Toledo, Peoria
& Western and the Iowa Interstate in Peoria and with Kansas
City Southern in Springfield. Through the Kansas City Southern,
I&M also connects with CSX Transportation. This allows
customers efficient, broad-based access to all rail points across
North America.
The region's 105 employees are not only dedicated to customer
service, but just as importantly, they are dedicated to safety. The
Illinois Region has been one of the safest operations in the
industry for the past several years, and thus has earned many
industry and company awards. By maintaining its 120 route miles of
track and yards to the highest standards, safe operations are
further enhanced.
Illinois & Midland Railroad (I&M) -
Formed in February 1996, I&M purchased the majority of the
assets of the former Chicago & Illinois Midland Railway
Company, whose roots date back to 1889. Our experienced, dedicated
team of professionals has focused on continuing and improving this
long tradition of rail services, and we now handle more than
100,000 carloads per year.
Historically, I&M's foundation was built on coal shipments
to power plants for generating electricity to support the economy
of the region. In addition to coal, the railroad has grown to
handle a variety of commodities, including agricultural products,
building materials, minerals and municipal and industrial
waste.
Tazewell & Peoria Railroad (T&P) -
Formed on November 1, 2004, T&P leased the assets of the Peoria
& Pekin Union Railway from its owners Canadian National,
Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific. T&P is a traditional
terminal switching railroad providing switching service for
customers on its lines, including manufacturers of wire, fencing
and nails, tractors and ethanol, and processors of grain and scrap
iron.
In addition, T&P provides intermediate switching for all of
its connections. T&P switches nearly 100,000 cars annually for
customers and connecting railroads.
